Have you checked the MS end of the transaction? The hold up may well be with them?

Also Options complicate the matter some. Some of these online firms will not automatically give option approval upon account opening. DLJ won't. AMTD didn't a year ago. EGRP didn't last I checked. But Brown and Co. does.

Henry, when I transferred shares from MSDW to my E-Trade account it took over 7 weeks. And you know why, Morgan Stanley was dragging their feet. In my case, I was closing the account. They had no motivation to quickly make the share transfer. When I called MSDW they would say that share transfers took time to process,blah,blah,blah.
I have since found out that 1-2 months is standard for large brokerages.
Thus, it may not be "all" E-Trades fault. 50% of the frustration needs to be placed on Morgan.
