hio, the timing of this press release is awfully close to the
massive tanking the stock did today when it lost the huge bid
support at 25. I also suspect that there may have been a lot of
stop sell orders at just below 25 which triggered the avalanche...

I predict a quick spike up tomorrow morning. Then the shorts will
cover and we slowly crawl back to close near 27 1/2 by Friday.

Just IMHO, and I do not think the sky is falling, not at Compaq,
anyway,

Compaq, Taiwan firms set up e-commerce portal site

TAIPEI, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp (NYSE:CPQ -
news), the world's largest PC maker, said on Tuesday it would set
up an electronic commerce portal with four Taiwan firms and venture capitalists W.I. Harper Group.

The portal website would provide a platform for electronic business-to-business transactions, Compaq
said in a statement.

The venture also plans to sign a contract with global e-commerce leader Commerce One
(NasdaqNM:CMRC - news) on February 23 to forge a strategic alliance, and is expected to start
operations in the third quarter, it said.

WI Harper is a U.S.-based venture capital firm with strong connections in Taiwan.

The venture's four Taiwan partners comprise Far Eastern Textile , computer and peripherals maker
Taiwan Liton , electrical wire and cable maker Walsin Lihwa and car maker Yulon Motor , it said.

The statement gave no further details.
