<<<SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2000--The Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA), a leading industry organization representing the unique needs of the fabless/foundry business model, announced today the election of several new board members.

Dolores Marciel, Vice President, Worldwide Materials of Adaptec (Nasdaq:ADPT), and Gina Gloski, Vice President, Operations of C-Cube Microsystems (Nasdaq:CUBE), were elected as new board members. Mark Allen, President and Chief Operating Officer of microprocessor newcomer, Transmeta, was reelected to the Board. Allen was formerly Vice President, Operations with NVIDIA Corporation. Allen stated he looks forward to continuing to work closely with the FSA's board of directors. "We have a group of outstanding business leaders which will be most helpful to the FSA's on-going efforts to keep the fabless business model moving ahead."

In addition, David French, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cirrus Logic (Nasdaq:CRUS), was appointed to the Board to replace a former Cirrus Logic executive Derek Bell. "As one of the pioneers of the fabless model, Cirrus Logic has a long history in supporting FSA initiatives," said French. "I look forward to personally contributing to FSA programs, as we chart new levels of growth for the fabless industry. With the expected growth rate for foundry demand expected to exceed 20 percent per year over the next five years, the FSA will be instrumental in helping customers and suppliers to respond to the challenge."

FSA Executive Director, Jodi Shelton, said the newly elected board members compliment the existing group of members and will effectively position the Board to meet future industry challenges. "The FSA's challenge is to continue attracting individuals with fresh ideas and special insight into the unique issues of the fabless industry. We feel strongly that Gina, Dolores, Mark and David all have the vision and dedication necessary to promote the goals and objectives of the FSA," stated Shelton. The FSA directors represent a unique balance between the executive and operational level.
"The FSA's reputation for driving change and supporting new ideas presents a unique opportunity for me to make a contribution to the direction of the organization and the fabless industry," said Gloski.

"It is an honor to be part of the team that will lead the FSA into the new millennium," said Marciel. "Adaptec has learned a tremendous deal about the challenges and opportunities of becoming a fabless semiconductor manufacturer and pioneer. I am eager to share Adaptec's experience with my colleagues in the industry, and to find ways to integrate our collected knowledge for the improvement of the FSA and its members."

The FSA Board elections are held annually. Candidates must be an officer of a Voting (fabless) member company, of vice presidential level and above. Board members are elected for a three-year term.
