Intel investors have very high expectations for the company, which could make a price war somewhat dangerous. If they crash the high end of the x86 market, it might cause some career problems for the company management!

Ha... Agreed :-) I know that I'd be pretty pissed off, since all that intel stock that I bought WaaaaaY back in 1983 might go down in value.

After all, with all the splits it had since, it's effective cost to me now is somewhere around 50 cents a share. I don't know if I could stand the "losses" <G>

In addition to not understanding the profit dynamic of Intel, what some people also do not seem to realize is that x86 market is based on a steep price curve for high MHz. If that price curve is killed the whole market segmentation scheme will come crashing down and may do irreparable damage to the x86 market in the long run.
