SemiConEng, let's get this straight, before you start pulling to many Paulisms....there is only one P. Engel and frankly one is enough." Hey, whatever beef you have with Paul, that's between you and him. I think debate stimulates the board, but If you just want this board to be a boring AMD love fest, tell me now, and I'll go away. Fine with me. Your writing style seemed to be aping his...like I said, one is enough. And no, I am not looking for an AMD lovefest but there are two different ways to present opposing viewpoints...the Elmer way and the Aaron C. way. I prefer the latter. "Secondly lets gets something else clear.....if AMD weren't a threat to Intel's well being, your butt would not be over here posting." Of course AMD is a threat to intel. That's obvious. I believe that even intel now realizes this. Many have likened the situation to "David And Goliath". I'm O.K. with that too. But remember, David And Goliath was the exception, not the rule. The race does not always go to the strongest, or the fastest, but that's the way to bet. :-) P.S. - I notice you're the second person on this AMD board in a week to mention my Butt. You, and Ali Chen. What's up with the people on this board anyway? <G> What can I say, we are into ass kicking on this thread....it comes from years of abuse from Intel longs.....its in all the psychology books <G>"Thirdly Intel is in a world of hurt....it's recent fumblings not only helped AMD but several other legitimate and would be competitors. A window of opportunity was opened that will not be easily closed, if it can be closed at all." "A World Of Hurt"? I don't think I can agree with you on that one. Pain yes.... A Thorn in the side, yes. "A World Of Hurt", well, considering which board this was posted on, I'll give ya the benefit of the doubt. I don believe that AMD is Intel's only problem...far from it. I also don't think that the errati in Intel operations will disappear quickly....they took a while to develop and they will take a while to go away. I also believe that mgmt believes they are doing their jobs if they continue to show profits each quarter. I also don't think they have a clue as to how to grow revenues through acquisitions like Cisco does. And I think that will be the only way Intel will achieve significant growth in revenue. I could go on but I think you get my drift. A world of hurt may have been an exaggeration only in the sense that Intel is not losing money....but in many other ways, I think its an apt description of where they are at.Of course they can't afford it. For far too long, intel has been the complacent sleeping giant. Not anymore. I'm reminded of a movie that I once saw about the attack on Pearl Harbor. I can't remember the name of the movie, or all the commanders names, but in the meeting room of the Japanese commanders, when the first reports came in, all were cheering over the surprise victory. The leader, however was sullen, because the Japanese had not taken out the American Carriers. His quote went something like "I Fear That We Have Only Succeeded In Awakening A Sleeping Giant". Do you always fall so easily for American propaganda?!!<G> Assuming that the Japanese commander was correct, the US was a sleeping giant in the sense that it was in denial about the war raging all around them and that their involvement could make the deciding difference. They were by no means in a state of miscalculations and misfires. But that is the state that Intel has been in.....I think that the best analogy would be that Intel has become the proverbial fat cat that thinks no one can successfully challenge it. A very dangerous place for the market leader to be occupying. JMHO ted
