I think there is a major architectural issue between NT and *nix. We can for the sake of argument, throw Solaris out altogether and you'll have a difficult time establishing NT will run as reliably on the same i386 server machine.

Is there some conspiracy against NT, or some huge Linux hype machine that cranks out such FUD with such frequency?

I think you're making an argument for NT in the context of the computing paradigm which has passed. The internet is Unix services. The best that NT can hope for is to emulate.
