What does this mean for Qualcomm?

Sure they get the royalty stream, but is this a positive for Q since, in any regard, they'd get the royalty stream regardless of who got the CDMA contract?

Comments?

2000 02/15(Ôð) 20:28

Yiso Telecom releases ``Free Wing', a wireless Internet modem for lap top
computers.

It is now possible to enjoy speedy Internet access without the hassle of connecting
with cellular phones or telephone cables.

Yiso Telecom, a wireless communication equipment manufacturing company, has
developed ``Free Wing,' a wireless Internet modem designed for portable computers,
the first of its kind in the world.

The modem can be used by simply installing the modem into the appropriate slot, and
any product equipped with a PCMCIA slot can be used with the modem, such as the
Handheld PC, PDA, desktop PCs and credit card reference machines. With a speed
of 64Kbps, the size and shape is identical to previous modems for convenient use.

Prices are in the 200,000 won range, and its release on the market is due in March.
