An item in the newspaper's dining guide last week ... There is a hidden gem amid the old oak trees at 2450 Mid Lane. Crapitto's, located in an original two-story home, separates itself from all other Italian restaurants in Houston with a cozy, distinctive atmosphere, exceptional food and uncompromising service.... I'm guessing that Crapitto is a family name -- a very proud family name apparently.

I dunno about controversy, but on NPR this morning I heard a fragment of an interview of some guy who wrote a book about native Americans. (Indians to us older sorts.) What I took home from that was the way the Indian naming convention adapted to a whole new set of metaphors. Rufus Whitewoman. John Allshottopieces. Arlene Respectsnothing. Maybe we could all make up Indian names for ourselves, or each other.
