It isn't difficult to pick out tunes on it, once you've tuned it (an electronic tuner really helps, whatever the purists say!) But to move from there, which is where I am, to really playing music on it is the step I'm in the process of taking. I figure between one and two years and I should be willing to play the thing in public, which is my standard for being at a level of play I feel comfortable with my playing level. As to whether I'll ever be ready to record on it, well, I don't know yet.

As to the 256th time through Stand By Me, I think even I would have asked to be let out!

>I love the sound of a hammered dulcimer! Is it terribly difficult to play?<
It gets easier when you're good&hammered.

it hold a special place there.....as it had been played by a now deceased friend of ours......Rich Mullins.....who made playing it look easy.....
