LoF -

I agree totally on the margin issue. I am currently off of margin completely. I have had bad experiences with margin calls in the past and have learned from my mistakes. I now use margin only on a temporary basis in special situations.

I have already made my decision on selling the Cree Calls. I was looking for others opinions on what they would do. The thought process on this type of transaction could be a very good learning experience for newbies.

I have decided to hold off a bit on the CC's. The stock has been holding up very well in this market, so I will wait to make a decision.

Thanks,

Ritch

lof...re: "40% drop in value of your account"

if this is a "best rule of thumb", then your portfolio is highly speculative......if you are savvy with "advanced options strategies", your long portfolio should closely mimic the underlying index that you are weighted in....

comment on "higher percentage" if over weighted in options would equate to a portfolio that is being suspended by some very fragile threads......

great way to get wiped out in a rapid trend reversal
