ZAnal, you really crack me up. I love this one "I have no axe to grind here." You definitely have an axe to grind. You are long Exabyte and hate Quantum. It's not a big secret or anything. Every chance you get to slam Quantum or DLT drives, you take it. Why do you even post here when all you really want is to see EXBT move higher. I couldn't care less if EXBT goes higher or their new Mammoth II product gets the company out of the crapper. Oh, and maybe your source is credible and right about the drives, or maybe the source is completely wrong.

As Sam has referenced to you, the 7000 has been shipping and winning awards for several years and the 8000 has been shipping since last September without any press or analyst mention that backs up your source's claims. I listened to the Advanced Digital (Adic) conference call in January and they had nothing but praise for DLT 7000 and 8000 drives. I know they don't want to disrupt their relationship with their business partner, Quantum, but why talk up the drives or even throw them into a majority of their libraries if they have such problems and are overheating. From reading the specs for DLT drives, they definitely use more power (2-3x as much as AIT and Mammoth).

Look, you seem to be a decent human being and I've been rude to you before because you've pissed the few posters on this board off by being less than patriotic to our investment in this company. It's your tone and attitude and constant harping of the DLT drives that really rubs me the wrong way. Yes, and I can choose to skip your posts if I like or not let your posts get to me at all since you can post whatever you like around here like anyone else. Why you would care about the poor (getting poorer?) DSS investor on this board after seeing your tone so often is beyond me. It doesn't make sense compared to the quality posts that I've seen you make elsewhere---and I've been reading your posts for years. I've kvetched and feel better.
