ML bought most AAPT shares, who awarded LU $0.4B wireless NW contract
However, third ranked telco AAPT Ltd (Australia:AAP.AX - news) continued to race ahead, up 41.4 cents or about 5.9 percent to A$7.45. Brokerage Merrill Lynch Australia Private bought almost all of the 146,375 shares traded in the tightly held stock.

On Tuesday, the stock rocketed to a record high on news the telco had awarded U.S.-based Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU - news) the contract to build and support its A$500 million new mobile phone network.
