Well, III have never been arrested; never gotten a ticket even for parking illegally or jaywalking; never even thought of filing for bankruptcy (despite being forced to the wall by the expenses associated with my ex-husband's graduate studies) and rescued several people from such a situation by extending personal credit to give them breathing room; and because of how I feel about marriage vows, should still be married if my husband had not insisted that he needed to "find himself." I live in an upscale neighborhood and work in a "buttoned-down, white shoe" profession. I also should be doing pretty well. And yet, there is always trouble in one form or another.... One can even get into trouble intellectually, arguing fine points of philosophy, or at the corner pub when one's very decency and sanity invite the most bizarre revelations. All of a sudden, someone's person is resting in one's hands. That can be trouble.
