Just wait until you have to buy him shoes. I am not sure whether the fastest thing on earth is a teenage boy emptying a refrigerator, or a teenage boy outgrowing his running shoes. Wildfire comes to mind. But the shoe thing starts when they are quite young, and never stops, as far as I can see. At least you live in California. Here, when I buy winter shoes, they are outgrown before spring, and sandals are outgrown before winter. For a couple of years, I could wear the cast-offs, and then for a while, Chris could wear the castoffs, but now they've passed both of us.
