Another reason why IDX went up:

x38.deja.com

You need to read it all the way to the end to see why he doesn't like hackers.

Why buy now?

Purchase/sale decisions should have no memory. You can't kick yourself for not buying at a lower price or selling at a higher price. That is water under the bridge. Everyday is a new investment decision.

I own most of my position from $5 to $8. I remember the 200 shares I bought in September 1998 at $5 1/8 just before the close. We were trying to keep IDX above $5.00 so it would remain marginable and not force any holders to sell. I still have those shares. I guess Identix just thanked me for that good deed this week.

A lot has transpired since last March. We have gone from a good company with great products, but no developed markets to a great company with multiple partnerships and a developing stranglehold on the biometric ID market.

As of Monday, we broke the our moribund trading range cocoon and emerged an internet company with wings. 3 weeks the best we could hope for was a run to $12. Current trading volume and price volatility could result in a large, continued runup from here.

When we hit $50 I will be almost as happy with the shares I bought at $17.25 as the ones I bought at $5.125. The return may be smaller, but the downside risk has been reduced and it was still a good decision. Ma and Pa aren't buying these multiple, thousand share lots. I think we will see a lot more mutual funds on our institutional ownership list this quarter.

Everyday I ask myself if there is a better opportunity for my money elsewhere. Once again, today I said "no".

David,
I also continue to pick up additional shares here. Why now and not before? Because of the growth of my account, I am able to buy a few extra shares on margin. As Hockeyfan stated, as the stock continues to move up, the price we are paying now will not be important. It finally pays to be long.
