Still more on GVA: Granite Awarded Joint Venture Contract in California WATSONVILLE, Calif., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE: GVA - news) announced today that Granite Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, has been awarded a joint venture contract by the California Department of Transportation to construct a new bridge and section of Highway 87 in downtown San Jose. The project was awarded to the joint venture team comprised of Granite Construction Company and C.C. Myers, Inc. Granite's portion of the $29.8 million contract is approximately 50%. Scope of the work includes the construction of one bridge, 152,000 cubic meters of excavation and fill, 52,000 tons of base rock, 25,000 tons of asphalt and all associated storm drains, retaining walls, barrier rails, lighting and signals. Construction is scheduled to begin in March and will be completed by October 2003. Granite Construction Company is a diversified heavy civil contractor and construction materials producer.
