Does anyone know when the vote is, and when you have to
own shares to vote ? I sold my shares as soon as the news
broke, but would seriously consider buying them back just
to vote NO to this dumb idea, then selling again if the
ayes got it.

Ash.

David_R, if the shareholders vote the deal down, I think that just ends the deal (no money changes hands). If Inprise kills the deal unilaterally to accept a superior offer, then they must pay Corel $29.5 million.

I am not certain whether betting the farm on Linux is entirely stupid. Windows may be paying the bills for INPR but the raising market valuation (or re-evaluation) of the stock was due to Linux. I thought Fooler was doing very well with the Windows/Linux mix until he gave the farm away at no charge to Corel.

Betting the farm with Corel is perfectly stupid, and I doubt you will find any if at all argument on that.
