SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- BEA User's Conference 2000 -- At the BEA User's Conference in San Francisco this week, NEON® Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: NESY - news), a leading provider of Enterprise Access and Integration software products, announced a relationship with BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS - news), The E-Commerce Transactions Company(TM), to deliver an Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) solution for Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company (Schweizerische Mobiliar Versicherungsgesellschaft), headquartered in Bern, Switzerland. NEON Systems and BEA were selected to deliver a solution for the enterprise-wide exchange of Systems/390® data and transactions between disparate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and business applications for Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company. NEON Systems is providing the two-phase commit between IMS transactions, DB2® data tables, and SAP(TM) applications seamlessly through the BEA Tuxedo® platform.
''We selected the NEON Systems component of the solution because they were able to demonstrate a real-world working capability of two-phase commit from the System/390 platform to distributed computing environments through BEA Tuxedo. The NEON Systems and BEA solution allows us to leverage our existing computing environment and applications, without training or buying new software,'' said Hans Kuenzler, member of the board for Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company.
''We are pleased that NEON Systems is able to partner with BEA to deliver such a powerful solution for one of the largest insurance companies in Switzerland, Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company,'' said Joe Backer, president and CEO, NEON Systems. ''Our years of understanding the System/390 environment contributed to delivering a robust two-phase commit solution with our Shadow Direct® software product. Multiple computing platforms, increasingly expansive global operations, and integration of disparate applications are contributing to the requirement of integrated, global information sharing. By sharing a commitment to support these business objectives with partners like BEA, we can help make an integrated business environment a reality.''
''More and more Global 2000 companies are recognizing the need to integrate mission-critical data and transactions with popular ERP applications, like SAP R/3(TM). By partnering with NEON Systems, we are able to deliver a solution that provides Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company with consistent information throughout their enterprise utilizing NEON Systems' two-phase commit technology,'' said Joe Menard, president of the BEA E-Commerce Server Division.
The Swiss Mobiliar Insurance Company EAI solution is being implemented using NEON Systems' Shadow Direct v 4.5 with the two-phase commit capability through an XA-compliant API -- Shadow® Enterprise Transactions(TM) - and BEA Tuxedo in a System/390 UNIX System Services environment. A general data bus was developed as the enterprise standard for exchanging DB2 and IMS data and transactions between disparate applications, including SAP R/3.
More than 70 percent of mission-critical corporate information still resides on mainframes. To successfully participate in business-to-business and business-to-consumer initiatives such as Web-to-host data access, client/server application development, or enterprise application integration, access to System/390 IMS, CICS®, VSAM, ADABAS®, or DB2 data and transactions is crucial. NEON Systems' Shadow Direct is the strategic choice of many Global 2000 companies to provide rapid deployment for e-initiatives through an open and less complex architecture.
