I have more capital than some market makers, primarily because I used to be one, so I ask is it fair that market makers have advantages over the public ??

Yes Gary MM always have the advantage, but in highly liquid stocks the spread is low and thus their advantage costs me less. Say .0625 per share. I've been trading MRVC lately and sometimes the spread is $1.00 ouch, but stock is liquid engough to get in between.
