AHMEDABAD 15 FEBRUARY

IT'S placement time yet again and corporates are doing the rounds of management institutes. The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) is no exception. Only this time dot com companies are coming in droves, hoping to entice the creme de la creme of the country's management graduates. Students at IIMA are gearing up for what they call the "best placement season in its history". Not only is the number of companies coming to the campus increasing but the number of options available this year is also rather high.

"We expect 120-130 companies to come to the campus," Achintya Mangla, placement co-ordinator, told ET. "Even the quality of jobs on offer is phenomenal. In IT, as many as 32 companies, including 10 dot coms, have logged on to our placement network to source graduates. There are also 22 firms which are looking for grey cells to export to their global offices abroad."

Reflecting the arrival of the new economy, these internet start-ups and IT companies are promising attractive stock options, entrepreneurial dreams and fantastic growth opportunities.
