(off topic) Its about the price of gold, but since its a wild guess on my part
some may read this and say "worth zero".

<<Doug, I think it is more of the case that the Ashanti news
regarding a possible agreement with the banks...
Weak longs looked to liquidate their positions...>>

In my opinion, if the price of gold is expected to stay above $300 in the near months,
and might even go much higher, than this and the belief that gold will once again
be regarded as the best store of value, then those nations and producers that already
have access to large and proven gold mines have it in their interest to not put
them into limbo or tied up in red tape, but to discard the past and still current
stupid and political/criminal and dumb policies like the Barrick hedge attitude,
along with the Goldman Sacks Wheeling & Dealing stufff.

So, I think the Ashanti news will finally reflect a resolution that the resulting parties
that are associated with this gold in the dirt will reflect an old fashion type
business, that being mine gold and sell as physical what you bring up from the
earth for the highest price possible based on real supply & demand, and not
on rocket science derivatives and paper gold, etc.

There's probably something in that - ASL was up yesterday on high volume. But what any of it means is obscure.

IF there is a link between the recent run in gold & what is going on in Austria(and other are saying YES) then this should be shaking it up again:

Churchill was "criminal," says Austria's Haider

In an interview unlikely to endear him to Britain, Austria's far-right politician Joerg Haider on Sunday described London's wartime leader, Winston Churchill, as "one of the greatest criminals" of the 20th century.
In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, the leader of the Freedom Party said Churchill had been responsible for destroying the German city of Dresden during World War II.

Haider, whose party's presence in a coalition government has prompted an EU threat of isolation against Austria, said: "With Churchill there are a lot of bad things -- and a lot of honour.

"He did right and wrong. That's the fate of an important politician".

Asked what Churchill had done wrong, Haider said: "The bad things were like the decision to destroy cities such as Dresden, where there were no soldiers of the German army.

"There were only citizens".

Haider implied Austrians would not be upset (cont)

ps this quote doesn't sound like a follower of Hitler:
Then he grinned: "I think I would have been in prison during the Nazi period, because I am a fighter for freedom and not for dictatorship".

How can the employment numbers coming out of the government be right if:
Anger grows as US jails its two millionth inmate

The land of the free is now home to 25% of the world's prison population
