yes that was last year but look what has happened this year to one of last year high fliers (see below link), could the same be happening to JDSU? Notice the lack of quick turn around (no green arrow yet)? I'm about to make the same comment I made about QCOM last month. I said in Jan. that QCOM was going to start trending, or dead money till the end of this year, that could very well be happening to JDSU, although we don't have the same club like quality to the JDSU thread yet, like so many topping stocks have had in the past.. <gg>

Portion of Salomon Smith Barney report on GLW, I post this so everyone gets a feel for the JDSU's dominance.

CORNING EXPECTS TO AT LEAST DOUBLE MARKET SHARE IN THIN-FILM-FILTER
MARKET, ACHIEVE LOW-COST POSITION

The worldwide market for DWDM components is expected to grow 100% from
$300 million in 1999 to $600 million in 2000 and to $1 billion in 2001.
The combination of JDS Uniphase (JDSU, $202, 1H) and E-TEK Dynamics
(ETEK, $199, 1H)--who recently announced their intention to merge--would
create a powerhouse in thin-film-filters and modules, capturing perhaps
80%-plus of that market. However, we believe it also presents to Corning
an extremely attractive second-source opportunity. Corning currently has
only a small share of the merchant filter market, perhaps 10% or less,
but expects to at least double its position over the next 12-18
months.

NetOptx provides Corning with both increased capacity of
thin-film-filters and improved manufacturing capabilities (the company
reportedly has industry-leading yields for its 200 and 100 GHz filters),
which Corning can now apply to its existing manufacturing operations,
further increasing total production--guidance is for a 10x increase in
thin film capacity in 2000. Combined with Samsung Corning Micro-Optics'
advanced packaging capabilities, we believe Corning has taken a major
step towards becoming a significant supplier of thin-film-filter
modules. And if history is any indicator, we would expect Corning to
claim to the low-cost position in the market over time, as volumes ramp
and more R&D is focused on process improvements.
