Sounds like BS to me too, Jack. I can get 500 or so channels via fibre optic cable TV right now. . . .and I live out in the country. And there is no noise in digital transmission, let alone optical. . . digital signals are merely a string of 1's and O's. . .

They oversample to be sure they read the string correctly. Noise is an analog term . . . sounds like your friend needs to move into the 80's.

And there will always be switches. . .of some sort. . . .we are betting on the success of OPTICAL switches by companies like LPTHA, JDSU, etc.
