Shareholders gang up against Ashanti'.-

"Following a ... notice by shareholder protection legal specialists, Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach in New York, another US firm Steven E. Cauley of Little Rock, has filed a fraud lawsuit in the United States District Court .... on behalf of investors who purchased shares in Ashanti .... The complaint .... alleges that defendants issued a series of materially false and misleading statements concerning the Company's hedging strategy, ostensibly designed to protect Ashanti against fluctuations in the price of gold....[and] that defendants' statements during this period misrepresented and concealed the true risks of the Company's hedge book .... and concealed the Company's exposure to gold price volatility.
----snip----
"This is bound to be embarrassing for both the company and bullion bank advisors and could well discourage other mines from hedging and being untransparent. This in turn could support the price of gold."
