Steve C - To address your first point, I'm not Intel PR in the slightest. No one has ever approached me in any official capacity whatsoever as to my posting activity on SI. It's a hobby, just like with other frequent posters on SI I suspect. As for what I do, my profile discloses as much as I want to disclose. You may infer that I am somehow associated with Process Development Engineering .

<Also, in fairness, if you do own AMD, like Paul, you ought to disclose when you purchased it and how much of your portfolio it represents. (Of course, my question assumes that you are not on this thread in an official Intel capacity.) Anyone who is new to this thread should be aware that the strongest anti-AMD voices are actually long on the stock.>

I haven't had much to say that's negative about AMD in quite a while, except I don't really believe their long term product map is that great. But as far as their execution on the Athlon, it has been very good so far. Also, I believe AMD has a real good shot at continuing to do well for at least the first half of this year.

As for my AMD investment, AMD represents 3.5% of my portfolio. I purchased it as I said, on Friday a little before noon. The stock was halted at 41-11/16 (I think), and I had a lunch date, so I hit the order button and went to lunch. The purchase price ended up being 43-1/2. AMD now represents about 3.5% of my total portfolio. My Intel holdings represents about 60% of my total portfolio. I accumulate more Intel on a monthly basis by a dollar-cost averaging scheme.

That enough info for you?

PB

There is more to life than work, and if you disagree you ought to be at the job figuring out the answer to problem on the job and generate some great bonus from Intel than on this thread.

SteveC, this issue has been brought before in varying forms, some more attacking than others, and I guess it feels a little unfair. I think if we were at war, then it might be a legitimate tactic but the truth is that we are not at war......at least not most of the time.

So, it would seem to me that the amount of time either PB or Tench spend posting on this thread and where that time takes them away from their respective jobs is really an issue for them and their respective bosses rather than this thread. At least that's the kind of treatment I would expect if the positions were reversed.

Do you not agree?
