Tenchusatsu, <Chuck, do you expect Sledgehammer to be a substantial leap over Willamette and/or Foster?> Leap - yes. Substantial - I do not know. I don't think there is too much more to be done on the pipelining aspect. Integer code has its limitations on IPC. 64-bit operations will add certain benefits that could be helpful. I would be surprised if the FPU/SIMD performance is not dramatically better. All this matter if AMD can keep the current 2001 target. If the program slips by much all the performance improvements may amount to nothing. Chuck
