I agree completely. I still live by the axiom that a consumer electronics product won't go into mass-market adoption until the price is $500 or lower.

in my neighborhood you can buy a gemstar equipped tv today for $279. flyers were in last 2 sunday papers.
sony with gmst is here too...not that cheap yet though.

i'll cruise the stores again this week.

While I appreciate that there are many of us who own stock already in Gemstar, I still think it's important to focus on the defining moments that were at the center of that wonderful discussion months ago. Some of us (me) will add to our position depending on the strength of the defining moment. Others of us will understandably look for defining moments as validation that we should remain in the stock, that our original convictions remain justified.

Mike that is a profound statement as I believe gorillas have defining moments through out their lives.
I will add to my Gem as my defining moments occur.
I have not added to my Q position since I am waiting for a few additional defining moments to occur.
1. Nok deal
2. GSM technology purchase or JV
3. Any GSM carrier capitualting to CDMA
4. Royalty stream from China.

I will add to my position as any of the above take place.

late on Siebel, early on Gemstar... God help those who rely on Merlin for short-term timing... 'course, he's still living off the legendary Q call last march (along with Cha2), but c'mon, what has he done for us lately?
