Interliant's Acquisition of The Jacobson Group Results in Seamless Solutions for Lotus LearningSpace Applications
PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 16, 2000--Interliant, Inc. (Nasdaq:INIT - news), a leading application service provider (ASP), today announced the addition of specialized Lotus LearningSpace extensions to its hosted distributed learning offering. A creative solution of Interliant's hosting capabilities and consulting services combined with The Jacobson Group's expertise of Lotus LearningSpace utilization, the products and services package is one of the industry's most complete hosted distributed learning solutions.

``Interliant, through the successful integration of The Jacobson Group, is the only ASP to offer a comprehensive distributed learning package, from the hosting of the application to customized solutions which meet the customer's specific needs,' said Herb Hribar, CEO of Interliant. ``Distributed learning is the next hot market for the ASP industry and Interliant can deliver the services required by both the academic and corporate communities.'

According to IDC, a noted industry analyst firm, corporate and academic institution demand for e-learning solutions is skyrocketing. The analyst firm has predicted the e-learning market will grow from $550 million in 1998 to more than $11.4 billion by 2003.

Interliant's hosted Lotus LearningSpace offerings include needs analysis, self-paced learning capabilities, collaborative learning environment support and complete consulting services. The Jacobson Group, a recent Interliant acquisition, designs customized extensions such as student tracking and reporting, online registration and various management tools.

``At one point, IBM was training more than 3,000 managers using Lotus LearningSpace and we needed a better way to keep a pulse on who was where in the progression,' said Lee Wasson, director of management development at IBM. ``The Jacobson Group created extensions to our current Lotus LearningSpace solution which added three core elements to our training program: progress tracking, course room management tools, and management activity reports. The integration of these components was a seamless process, with sufficient thought and testing given to the implementation process.'

In the academic arena, The Concord Consortium - Virtual High School project will utilize the Lotus LearningSpace extensions for registration, administration, student tracking and grading. ``The Jacobson Group created for us a one-touch system that enables us to easily scale the school according to demand,' said Raymond Rose, vice president of The Concord Consortium. ``In three years, we have expanded our curriculum from 30 to 200 courses and next year will service more than 8,000 students across five continents. We would not be able to adequately manage such a course and student load were it not for The Jacobson Group's acumen in designing customized extensions that specifically meet our needs.'
