Players Without a Scorecard

NEW YORK, Feb 16, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The companies currently
categorized as pure B2B e-commerce players include I2 Technologies
(ITWO), which offers a connection to companies' procurement systems. It
focuses on supply-chain management as an integral part of purchasing.
Projects Software and Development (PSDI) maintains a Web site that lets
users monitor their inter-company purchases, as well as the repair of
parts. Users of these systems are utilities, telecommunications
companies, transportation companies and large industrial firms.
Commerce One (CMRC) hosts and builds e-commerce marketplaces, while
Calico Commerce (CLIC) develops products that let companies connect
their e-selling and e-procurement systems. Agile Software (AGIL) builds
products that allow companies to integrate along the design chain.

One of the hottest sectors of the last decade was enterprise resource
planning, or ERP, and it included such high flyers as Peoplesoft (PSFT)
and BAAN (BAANF).

Some have been able to adapt better than others. SAP (SAP) for one.
Other companies in the ERP space such as Oracle (ORCL) repositioned
themselves as Web-centric enterprises, while others, including J. D.
Edwards (JDEC), opted to partner with leaders in specific enterprise
categories such as Siebel Systems (SEBL) and Ariba (ARBA).
