Todd: Excellent post and thank you for the link. Re: "If it's all so obvious, why are all the talking heads spewing "no inflation" rhetoric all over the media? Are they that naïve?" First, most talking heads have a vested interest in being invested at all times. Stock portfolio managers are a prime example. They are too busy trying to beat the index or the competition. Besides, it is their job to be fully invested at all times. They don't have the incentive to determine if it is a good time to be 100% in equities. They don't care. Their job is to buy. I rarel listen to these guys when it comes to their market advice. Allocation. is your decision. Always ask if the talking head has a vested interest in telling you to buy stocks. If the answer is yes, one must then take their opinion in this context. Secondly, for some odd reason they do not follow the leading indicators of inflation closely. I have not heard it mentioned in the mainstream press for whatever reason. They all love driving by looking through the rear view mirror using PPI and CPI. But by the time it shows up there it may well be too late to do anything about it. If you sky the CPI or the PPI you will get a market correction right off the bat. And if that is confirmed by more bad numbers, the market will get cranky. The odds of this are increasing. Re: "Am I that naïve?" You don't sound it. Re: "Is the FIG/FIBER talk all nonsense? How can we continue to explode higher with this on the horizon?" No, it is not nonsense. Think of it as an central part of the risk/reward equation. Who wants to drive pedal to the medal when the chances are greater that you will blow a tire? This is the risk side. Nobody talks about risk anymore. All anyone talks about these days is the reward. But every once in awhile the market teaches us not to ignore risk. I do not need that lesson. Someone else can learn it. Re: "Am I just being paranoid? Any ideas?" No, you have just spotted the risk. Besides paranoia can be a healthy thing. Re: "Also, I've assembled all of the FIG data and a lot of the FIBER info going back the last few years. Anyone know a good(quick) spot to get CPI/PPI history?" Let us know what you find. Re: "Hi Bob(Uhh, Justa & Gang)." Welcome. BTW, justa for clarification, I am not Bob.
