Interesting - I wonder why in all of this we don't see someone big playing against the short positions? Ashanti is essentially unhedged in the sense that it needs a lot of time to produce enough gold to cover its forward positions. 50% of the production from Geita will help - but that's some way off. The sale of the other 50% wil be used for what do you think? $200 million or so. The ASL Thread is moribund.
