From what I have heard on the news so far, the leak sounds like it was on the "secondary" (non-radioactive) side of a steam generator. These are large heat exchangers used to separate the "primary" (radioactive water) from the "secondary" water. If the leak was not large enough to cause the plant to automatically trip, then you are correct, it is not that big of a deal. Additionally the ALERT that was declared is the lowest level of the site's emergency plan and really only consists of notifications to offsite agencies.

I'm sure the media will be able to make a crisis out of this if they do not find something else to amuse them today.

Also, as I'm sure you know, this is positive news for all tech stocks and biomeds. <g>
