Elmer,

n my mind it's amazing that A-0 silicon + new chipset + new MB would run stable for 2 hours. MHz/GHz to me is a side issue.

It sounds very similar to the K7 story last year. I believe that you described K7 as being a "foil" at this stage of it's development.

On a different note. Do you think AMD will now trump Intel with a follow on demo to last weeks?

EP, I hope not...it then would look like a p*ssing contest right out of high school!

Will the absence of a follow on demo indicate that AMD shot their wad and make them look like they are slinking away to lick their wounds? In my opinion, after claiming to be able to stay ahead in the MHz race it's put up or shutup time for AMD and silence will be a clear indication that they can't match Intel.

On the contrary, no follow up demo would indicate strength. Only when you are confident of your abilities do you not have to prove them or show them off. Besides, so far, it seems like Willamette is a good chip but not "a knock your socks off" one. And as you have said before its a long way between first silicon and production in volume..... a lot can happen during that time.

Tuff spot for them to be in.

I don't think so. Sanders can't seem to play the analysts/Wall Street game very well, but with this kind of game, he appears to be in his element and to excel.
