Hi!!

RE: More importantly he was correct more than once long before Dell's pre-warning. I am betting he has good far east contact's and is just as correct about the near and long term in his reversal!

A few of us have discussed this ....Coming to the conclusion that after the first quarter and now the fourth he either has inside information or he sits at the door of the INTC facility and counts the components that leave...
Read a report that the Far East is recovering nicely....Hope DELL is stealing market share...Mort's comments today about the CHINA developments IMO is very encouraging...

Best, Kemble

TTOBST, RE: More importantly he was correct more than once long before Dell's pre-warning. I am betting he has good far east contact's and is just as correct about the near and long term in his reversal?

Niles has been very accurate indeed in forecasting DELL's revenues and earnings. His ratings of DELL, however, have not been nearly as accurate.

He was consistently neutral on DELL until 9 Aug 99, when he upgraded the stock from 'market perform' to 'long-term attractive'. The stock was 40 5/8 at the upgrade.

He upgraded further on 18 Aug 99 to 'buy' when the stock was 44 1/8.

He downgraded DELL on 1 Oct 99 to 'long-term attractive' whe the stock was 40 1/8.

His recent upgrade to 'buy' was on 27 Jan 00 with the stock at 39 5/8.

So he was wrong for a long time when he was neutral on the stock, and he upgraded the stock near a short term high the last time he was at 'buy'.

Niles' opinion isn't much of an indicator of anything, in other words.
