I just have not done enough homework on Juniper to give you an opinion. Those are interesting and possibly valid remarks but without a lot of work on my part and without any kind of release as to the structure of this deal or indeed, even if there is one, I really can't comment. Rest assured I'll have some comments at the right time ( or at least a lot of questions for anybody who cares to answer them... <g>)

in response to your question, how could ciena buy/acquire jnpr??? they have a smaller market cap, thus could not acquire a larger company. on the other hand, jnpr acquiring ciena is an excellent move for both companies, jnprs product line is limited and fibre will be the underlying driving force for internet infrastructure in the future, csco, the king of internet backbone plays obviously thought so when they bot cerent.
