Neither Compaq nor MS ever released a fix on Presarios that lock
up if you don't use IE. This type of proprietary software crap
that came preloaded with Presarios is the most blatant type of
monopolistic policies ever thrust on the consumer without their
consent or their knowledge. Their browser sucks compared to Netscape
and they knew it. Compaq, Intel, Netscape, etc. all caved under
the threat of being blackballed by the mighty MS. The truth hurts,
but this company went over the edge in trying to rule cyberworld.
They should take a look back at the auto industry when Detroit ruled
25 years ago. When the Japanese started putting out cars that didn't break down every two years, Detroit lost its market share and hasn't recovered since.
MS better rediscover the word quality when they put out a product
and start setting some precedent for the software industry as a whole.
Stop pushing product before it's ready just because your stock isn't
gaining 50% a year. Software salesmen are on a par with used car
salesmen, the lowest of the low. Sell the consumer the product
no matter what it takes and leave them high and dry when their
products fail under real time production processing. Software support
is a joke industry wide and it's getting worse not better.
Off my soapbox. Not short MS or any company.
