John why is it that every time a company announces a stock split someone invariably says...

"The announcement of a stock split, per se, does not change the value of the company one iota."

John - WE - all know this no? However stock splits DO have a tendency to affect share price. Everyone knows this so lets toss the 'it doesn't affect the value of the company' ok? Thanks :-)

John,

Take a look at QCOM's end of 1999 run. QCOM released a so-so earnings report, in my opinion, but ran like a rabbit based on a 4/1 split at the end of 1999.

Splits show that management has confidence the stock price will climb significantly after the split.

Good luck getting back in John! I wouldn't mind buying some more too actually. One can't seem to have enough of CREE right now..
