"Investor like to be surprised in a positive way"

Some ask me the following question on another thread I'm posting the question and my response here.

GM,

New to this thread, but I've been using SI since "97. I had a couple of nice runs with QCOM but I must admit I missed the really big play last year.

Do you have any views on QCOM being a better LEAP play right now versus buying the underlying asset? I'm asking that in the context of your comment... "The story is all out it seems".

Thanks for any insight.

Investors like to be surprised in a positive way, with QCOM we just got a negative surprise, add that to the fact that QCOM has already shot the wad if you well. Meaning what more are they going to do near term? That's why I have said it will take to the end of this year for things to become clearer. It's the story that matters for QCOM, that stock can't live on earnings alone, it's not time for that especially with the market cap it has. No news no movement. Later this year, HDR, China, Wireless Knowledge and 3G etc etc will all be much more clear then they are now. The real tell in all this is the now China with all those possible future CDMA users is under the pen and a done deal, yet the stock is dropping.. Another tell will be the analyst meeting, could be much to do about nothing, then we have the investor meeting, if we get nothing QCOM becomes DELL like!!
