JNPR and CIEN don't know so how do you expect anyone else to know if it makes sense? How does a standard router mfger get together with an optical company? CIEN attempts to emulate in optics JNPR's backbone routers? Seems like there are much better ways to accomplish this than a merger of these two disparate organizations. CIEN is a loner and has a style not conducive to merger. It would be an ersatz mixture and would be very difficult to integrate the two companies. If you thought AOL-TWX was bad for AOL's stock...
