It's been a while since I checked into the requirements for dsl, but I seem to remember that the max copper between you and the Central Office is about 19,000 feet, with no digital muxing in between. The closer you are the faster the possible connection, but you pay more for the higher connection rates. I think that the max speed is about 7.5 Mbps.

I've got my eye on a 22" flat panel display, but I've got to figure out how to have two displays connected to one cpu. Even a single 21" CRT that I use on one of my systems isn't big enough. I figure twin 22" FPDs would look nice on my new desk in my new home office.

Congrats on the new loft; it sounds pretty nice. A few thousand Qs should take care of the decorating and a new turntable, tube pre and power amps, and a nice pair of speakers.
