HSI Back to 17,000 on Prospective Alliance of PCCW, SingTel Feb 17,2000 - 13:04:04 HKT The market rumoured that Pacific Century CyberWorks (1186) has reached an agreement with Singapore Telecommunications to form a new venture to acquire Cable & Wireless HKT (0008). The local stock market was thus boosted and returned to the 17,000 level. The HSI rallied 106 points to close the morning session at 17,149 on turnover of $15.1 billion. HSBC (005) increased $1.25 to $93.75. Cable & Wireless HKT (0008) rallied $1.03 to $26.00. Pacific Century CyberWorks (1186) jumped $1.40 to $26.75. Golden Power International (0603) remained unchanged at $17.25.
