But you are right on taking possession of the metals (not sure about the true collectable coins). My great grandfather had a pile of silver dollars that he stored in some big 'ole non-charged artillery shells (like 110mm) in the rec room. All us grandkids got 5 silver dollars for each birthday and Christmas for as long as I can remember.

I wish I had the original article on this story. I think one of the sundry expenses was he borrowed his mother's car to transport the loot, which weighed in at nearly a ton, and broke the car's suspension. -g-
