John T Clarke,
Haven't had much time to dig into my weather sites and some are not yielding data tonight. From what I do have the NAO has begun to move down to the zero line and if the trend persists it will go negative.

In that case the groundhog might be right this year, VBG.

In any case I am expecting IMHWO, a return to subnormal temps and winter storms for the rest of the month, pending confirmation of NAO data. I expect a warm spell after that followed by another bout of cold weather and a "late" spring.

Was in the 50's here in PA today but the wind is howling now, it's getting ready for that storm to move in.
Just think how much trouble we would be in if this had turned out to be like the winter on 96.
They'd be lynching oil stock investors, VBG
