I said agreement. Its a standard everyday word. It means two people agree on something. I mentioned *nothing* about a legal contract.

A transaction is an exchange of stock for cash, so necessarily a buy is an exchange of stock for cash
Sigh. Can you really be this neglectful of the obvious? I exchange my house for cash- Is the transaction a buy or a sell? Both of course.

Since you cannot answer the question I asked "define a buy"- I'll take my best guess as to what you really mean.

When someone places a bid to buy and someone else sees that order and decides to sell to it you consider that a "buy". Therefore "buying" moves stock prices lower. Most people consider it a "sell" because the seller is the one in the transaction who was more motivated.

Though I'm sure you will never grasp it it is purely a matter of definition.
