Concerning margin Individual investors are only responsible for portion of margin debts. Good portion of these margin debts borrowed by hedge funds and some institutions. MR. Greenspan testifying before Congress, acknowledge these facts and he said increased margin requirement will not prevent big boys to borrow as rules for them are different.!. They would have increase the margin rate if only small guy was involved!! Regards, Stay long
