Last night on the news, I heard oil prices could climb higher by this summer because most people will take their vacations then. Right now, heating oil prices are high.

Some folks think the federal government should use federal reserves to lower prices, but, if they did, the journalist said it would not lower the cost by a great deal.

Because of international politics, who knows what will happen by this summer?

Hello Sonki. OIL. Some analyst said the other day that oil could go to 40 before it heads down again. I am not so sure about this. Evtl. they would hurt themselves with those high oil prices. But it could still go higher. It's like Abby Cohen says about the US being a Supertanker. It's slow to turn around. Same thing probably with OIL. I would have thought that Mr. Clinton should have put a little more pressure on some of our oil friends before this. Mr. Richardson is finally being sent to see what can be done about those oil prices. I believe that first stop is Mexico and the other non cartel oil countries. Mr. Clinton released money today to the poor to pay for their oil bills. And he was wondering what could be done about those people in the North East that still heat with oil. He could have asked me. Instead of paying those oil bills for those people for sev. months and then supposedly again in the summer, he could have converted those places right away to alternate heating with the help of the States. They give all kinds of loans to little businesses. Why not to something like that? Could be cheaper for these people in the long run, even if they have to pay a little extra every month to help pay for this conversion. Mr.Clinton is not releasing strategic oil yet, but he left it open in his speech today.

Infy. Infosys. No. It was the CEO of INSP. Infospace. Both are Indian cos. I bought INSP last summer and know it well. I had thought of buying INFY in DEC. OH, well. I would feel better about my AOL if I had. But at least INSP is making the pain with my AOL less. One goes up, the other one goes down. It's a wash. Nah. Insp wants to be a trillion company, it will not correct. A little bit here and a little bit there. Famous last words. gg. What do you think about AOL down here?

Novl. I bought 500 sh. last fall and then sold with a loss in DEC to offset some of my gains. I sold at 20. So what do I think now about it? Guess. gg. Barrons said last summer? that Novl will go to 60 in 4 to 5 years? It was around 12 then? All those question marks are in case my memory went bad. UIS went down today. It may be worth a look again. I am glad that CPQ holders did well today.

RMBS. Yeah. I sold out also with a nice gain before it started plunging. Well, the rest is now history. I am thinking of buying some more JDSU. Maybe tomorrow if the market goes down while Greenspeak is on the tube. I bought some QCOM on Monday. I was deciding between that and CMRC. Sigh. I guess I will average down and buy some more QCOM. How low can it go? I had bought Exds at 94 last month and sold it at 122. I bought it back on Monday at 115. I am with you on RMBS. But I want it a bit lower. BTW. Never sold my first share of AOL since 98. Sigh.

That reminds me. Coming back to oil. I heard some experts say today that those oil prices are not inflationary. I am not quite sure if it was GOV experts who said that. Hm. I guess anything temporary is not inflationary.

HWP. Yes. I wrote before that it looked to me that Carla F. jumped the ship before it started sinking. gg. LU did not fare well today, but better than Intel. Did you hear that AMD has a target price of 75? Dell was up a bit. HWP was halted and I have not checked yet what it did in after hours. I guess I will check now.

Still holding on to my WMT. Maybe a little late to sell. Hopefully. SSB? believes it's a good bargain here and has it as a buy. I guess I will trust them since I have a nice loss in just a cpl of days.

Sonny

Sonki and All.

dailynews.yahoo.com

It looks like the FED is going to be the threat to our economy. But what do I know. The President and all presidential contenders like Mr. Greenspan and despite all this crap, I guess he has been the best one. But, sheesh.

He now thinks that the productivity is part of the problem in this economic boon. I could tell all along that he was only half hearted with this new paradigm. Still with this old Philips curve.

So much for NOT targeting the stock market. They keep this up, they WILL kill the golden goose.

This will be a lousy hearing. Greenspan looks like he did not get enough sleep. He may be pretty cranky. gg.
