Sonki: Re: UIS, Intc et al

Haven't posted in some time, but had to say hi. Still kept much of my UIS after deep drop, believe bad news out, hence the climb, including nice bounce in last few days. New deal w/CPQ, and Win2000 gave UIS nice 13-15% move; Presently trades bet. 50 and 200 dma, if it breaks cleanly thru 36, it should move to where I had hoped previously (tho I've been fortunate to have got it back @ aug.'97 @ under $11), Still believe it may be a target co., but no hypeing here.
I never let go of either Intel or Amat (prompted by your suggestion @ $35, watched it go down to $23, now what a nice price @ $188--INSANE but logical. History seems to see downturn @ or around actual split, time to take profits on Amat, esp. in IRA? Your thoughts?
Had some luck w/CLPA-insane Biotech having risen from ashes of Tseng Labs, now a $59 stock u had once referred to, perhaps correctly as my $2.00 Penny stock. But I did sell out of Nextel after a nice profit @ $82 in the fall, only to see it go down to $71 and now over $120, sigh, sigh.
Lastly oil prices--IMHO this is like a tax increase to all of us and Greenspan is out to lunch raising interest rates, as the market traders will ignore his stubborn blindness while small businessman and consumers get the shaft where INFLATION is and has been non-existent. Technology keeps cos. from having any pricing power, and oil no longer affects the economy the way it had, but the double whammy of the higher prices and unfair interest rate increases by AG will damn us into a slowdown unless somebody speaks up. SOMEONE SHOULD QUOTE TO GREENSPAN HIS FEAR/SCARE-TALK OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS AT THE HUMPHREY-HAWKINS MEETINGS, AND STOP GIVING HIM CREDIT FOR WHAT INTEL ET AL HAVE DONE FOR OURS AND THE WORLD ECONOMY--AS I'VE SAID FOR YEARS, IT'S TECHNOLOGY, STUPID. Rant over, good luck to all longs.

Regards, Royco--off for a few hours.

P.S. hi to Sonny, Tony, et al

Hello, Sonki, I was very pleased with AMAT's earnings!!!!

Do you live in apartment or condo? Houses are a lot of trouble. I would prefer a condo, but a condo costs as much as a house and they are not easy to find in the area where I live.

House prices have been very expensive here as well. Oil prices? I don't know. The problem with oil is that the price involves an international/political squabble between the US and others countries.

In the past the Saudis have been good to the US. Our prices have been lower than those prices in many other countries.

Can you use public transportation? (g) I do! I refuse to pay for additional car.

I wonder how the markets will react on Tuesday........

Best wishes,

Mephisto
