I spoke with someone at Intel about a year ago about a new circuit design that would be extremely highspeed and was intended to be used first in Willamette. It was secret and he would not reveal any details except to say it was revolutionary. It is possible that this is what is at work here.

The 3 Ghz integer number came from Anand
If there is anything running at 3 GHz on Willamette, it must be a very tiny circuit. 0.18u transistors are not fast enough to run any meaningful amount of logic at 3.0 GHz.
