Scumbria - <Willy will undoubtably speed up over time. However, in order to build a 20 stage pipeline, a huge amount of speed work must have already been done up front. The number of gates per stage is probably precisely balanced, so logic repartitioning will not be an option. Speed improvements will come mostly from replacing missized transistors and wires, and from process enhancements.> Interesting. You're the designer. I have not actually spoke to anyone about speed path work on Willy. I am operating off of my experience with this. I will defer judgment on your specific above assertion until I can check it out. PB
