[Robertson Stephens Initiates Coverage of ARTT with a Buy Rating]

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 2000--Robertson Stephens Senior Telecom Analyst Jim Friedland today initiated coverage of Advanced Radio Telecom Corporation (NASDAQ:ARTT) with a Buy rating.

"Advanced Radio Telecom (ART) provides telecom carriers, such as ASPs, ISPs, and CLECs, with broadband access to buildings that are beyond the reach of fiber," said Friedland. "Given that only three percent of office buildings in the U.S. are wired with fiber, we believe the opportunity is substantial. In addition to its San Jose operation, the company plans to launch service in ten U.S. markets in 2000."

"ART's business plan is unique because it is the only neutral carriers' carrier, providing last mile connectivity using fixed wireless technology," said Friedland. "The company has licenses covering 75 million international POPs in the U.K. and Scandinavia."

"We are initiating coverage of ART with a Buy rating," said Friedland. "We expect the company to turn EBITDA-positive in 3-4 years and achieve long-term EBITDA margins in excess of 60 percent in its mature operations."
